What's Inside

Four 1mL samples:

• Bake: lemon zest and rum, then cream and praline over bourbon vanilla and brown sugar. A sweet bakery gourmand, bright with lemon at the start.
• Awake: coffee and Italian lemon, then green cardamom over vetiver. A fresh, lightly spiced coffee scent rather than a heavy one.
• Ink: black ink and birch tar, then jasmine over vetiver. Cool, smoky and woody, built around the idea of a first tattoo.
• Night: Bulgarian rose, then cumin and saffron over oud and musk. A dark, spicy rose and the boldest of the four.

How To Use a Discovery Set

Each 1mL sample comes in a 2mL vial filled halfway, so the vial will look half full. That is the correct amount, and it gives you roughly 15 sprays. Every vial is labeled with the fragrance name.

Wear one fragrance a day, on skin rather than a paper strip, and give it the whole day. The first ten minutes are the loudest and least representative part of any fragrance; judge it at hour three. Once you have a shortlist of two, wear them on opposite wrists and compare. Bake and Awake suit daytime, while Ink and Night show their character best on a cool evening, so plan your four days around that.
