Diptyque Eau Rose EDP
Description
This is the rose after the rain — greener, denser and altogether more three-dimensional than the sunny rosewater most people expect from Diptyque. Composed by Fabrice Pellegrin and released in 2022, Eau Rose Eau de Parfum builds on absolutes and extracts of Damask and Centifolia rose rather than simple essences, which is what gives the flower its body. Litchi supplies a fruity gleam up top; chamomile adds a herbal, tea-like softness; and artichoke — the note that makes this composition unusual — lends an earthy, stem-like green that stops the rose from turning powdery. It finishes on musk and soft woods that sit close to the skin.
How It Differs From Eau Rose EDT
- The EDP is not simply a stronger EDT — it is a different composition. Chamomile and artichoke make it greener, deeper and slightly jammy, a rose held to the nose on an overcast day.
- The EDT is the brighter, dewier original: litchi and rosewater, sparkling and transparent, gone rather quickly.
- Choose the EDP if you want the rose to stay with you and read as a fragrance; choose the EDT if you want the effect of having just walked through a rose garden.
Scent Character
- Woody — 44%
- Floral — 38%
- Sweet — 19%
Translation: read these figures as structure rather than billing. The Damask-and-Centifolia rose is unmistakably the face of the fragrance; the woody-musk share describes the quiet, skin-like base it settles into after the first hour, and the sweetness is litchi rather than sugar.

Performance
- Longevity — 4 to 6 hours on skin for most wearers, a little longer on clothing. It outlasts the EDT comfortably, but this is a refined Diptyque rose rather than a powerhouse — plan on a midday refresh.
- Sillage — moderate and close. Noticeable to someone beside you, not across a room.
- Projection — about arm's length for the first hour, then a skin scent that stays pleasant rather than loud.
Best Occasions & Season
- Season — Spring, Summer and Fall. The green-herbal facets keep it from feeling heavy in warm weather.
- Occasions — everyday wear, leisure, daytime events, and offices where a loud fragrance would be unwelcome.
- Gender — marketed to women; the artichoke-and-chamomile greenery makes it far less conventionally feminine than most roses, and it wears unisex.
- Skip for — occasions where you need projection to carry across a room, or if you want a jammy, gourmand rose.

FAQ
Is the EDP just a stronger version of the EDT?
No. It is a separate composition — chamomile and artichoke are new, and the rose is built from absolutes and extracts rather than essences. It is greener and deeper, not merely louder.
How long does it last?
Typically 4 to 6 hours on skin. It lasts longer than the EDT but is not a heavy-projecting fragrance; many wearers reapply once during a long day.
Does it smell like an old-fashioned rose perfume?
No. The artichoke gives it a stem-and-leaf greenness and the chamomile a herbal tea softness, which pulls it firmly into modern territory. It reads fresh and slightly earthy rather than powdery.
Can men wear it?
Yes. The green-herbal structure makes it one of the more unisex roses in the Diptyque range, despite being marketed to women.
