Kajal Aican EDP
Description
Äican is Kajal's tropical outlier: passionfruit and pineapple opened with ginger and black pepper, closing on praline, sandalwood and vetiver. Launched in 2024 and composed by Gökhan Şimşek, a Turkish-born, Paris-based perfumer with a chemistry background, it takes its name from a word meaning gold purified of all imperfections, the house's shorthand for inner strength and clarity. Where most of Kajal Perfumes Paris sits in rich Middle-Eastern florals and ambers, Äican is deliberately brighter and more playful, using spice rather than heaviness to give the fruit backbone.
How It Differs From Lamar
Kajal's two most-searched fragrances solve different problems.
- Äican is tropical and spiced: passionfruit, pineapple and mandarin over ginger, black pepper and jasmine, landing on praline, vanilla, sandalwood and vetiver. Bright, warm-weather, slightly gourmand at the end.
- Lamar is rosy and creamy: pineapple and red berries over Bulgarian and Turkish rose with jasmine sambac, resting on vanilla, amber and cashmere wood. Softer, rounder, more classically feminine in shape.
- Choose Äican for heat, energy and something less predictable. Choose Lamar if you want the house's signature rose-and-amber comfort.
Scent Character
The opening is genuinely tropical, passionfruit and pineapple, tart and a little green, cut with mandarin so it doesn't read as candy. Ginger and black pepper arrive quickly and do the important work: they keep the fruit from becoming juvenile and give the middle a dry, prickly lift, with jasmine softening the edges. The base is the surprise. Praline and vanilla bring a light gourmand sweetness, but sandalwood, vetiver and patchouli sit underneath and pull it back toward something woody and grown-up. The overall arc runs from bright and sharp to warm and creamy over about two hours.
Fragrance Pyramid
Top: Passionfruit, pineapple, mandarin orange
Heart: Ginger, black pepper, jasmine
Base: Musk, vanilla, praline, sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli
Performance
Solid on both fronts. The fruit-and-spice opening projects generously for the first hour or two, then the woody-praline base settles into a close, warm presence that carries through a full day. Three sprays is usually enough; the vetiver and patchouli give it more tenacity than the bright opening suggests.
Best Occasions & Season
Made for spring, summer and early autumn, and comfortable as an everyday signature rather than an occasion fragrance. The spice keeps it from wilting in real heat, and the gourmand base makes it work into cooler evenings. Good for work, travel and daytime social wear; less suited to formal evening settings where something denser would land better.

FAQ
Is Äican a gourmand?
Only partly. The praline and vanilla in the base give it a gourmand edge, but the dominant character is tropical fruit with spice, and the sandalwood and vetiver keep the finish woody rather than edible.
Does it smell like other pineapple fragrances?
The opening shares DNA with the pineapple-forward niche releases of the last few years, but the ginger and black pepper take it somewhere drier, and the praline base is distinctive.
Is it suitable for men?
Yes. It is built as a unisex composition, and the peppery, woody spine reads as neutral. The fruit is bright but not sugary.
How long does it last?
Most wearers get a full working day from three sprays, with the woody-praline base still detectable on skin at the end of it and longer on clothing.
