Description

Pan's Labyrinth is a fougère turned soft and powdery: lavender and coumarin wrapped in bitter almond, rose and a velvet powder accord. It comes from Lost Tribe, the New York-based indie house known for its heavy use of natural materials, and was composed by Matthew Schmuelian with perfumer Rajesh Balkrishnan. The house says it took a year and ten versions to finish, including two months spent on the custom powder accord alone, and it takes its mood from Guillermo del Toro's fairytale. Bergamot, rose otto, bitter almond and white ambergris open it; lavender, coumarin, rose absolute, ylang-ylang and patchouli form the classic fougère heart; and Sri Lankan sandalwood, musk, Malaysian oud, oakmoss, fir, labdanum and a bakhoor tincture give it a warm, faintly incensed base.
