Description

Épices Volées — literally "stolen spices" — steals its heat from coriander, cardamom, and clove, then hides it under a veil of Bulgarian rose. The composition was created by Jean-Paul Guerlain in 2010 (originally released as Arsène Lupin Voyou) and reissued in 2021 under Guerlain's boutique-only L'Art & la Matière collection — a line the house sells in limited runs, largely outside standard retail. Coriander, artemisia, lemon, and bergamot open sharp and green; sage, cardamom, clove, and rose take over the heart; patchouli, sandalwood, benzoin, and labdanum settle it into a warm, resinous base. It reads aromatic and spice-forward rather than sweet — closer to a spice market at dusk than a modern gourmand.
