Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio Absolu EDP
Description
Acqua di Giò Absolu is the version of Armani's marine classic that grew up and started going out at night, the same sea-and-citrus opening, set down on a base of amberwood, patchouli and labdanum. Alberto Morillas, the perfumer behind the original Acqua di Giò, composed Absolu in 2018 as a Woody Aromatic reading of the line: fruit and sea notes on top, an aromatic lavender-rosemary-geranium heart, and a warm, faintly sweet drydown the earlier Acqua di Giò releases never had. Reviewers consistently describe it as the more mature, more sensual member of the family, less purely fresh, more rounded.
How It Differs From Acqua di Giò Profondo
- Absolu is warm; Profondo is deep-blue and mineral. Absolu's base is amberwood, tonka and labdanum, sweeter and softer. Profondo runs cooler and saltier, with marine and mineral facets.
- Absolu leans evening and cooler months; Profondo stays a daytime blue fragrance more or less year-round.
- If the original Acqua di Giò reads too thin on you, Absolu is the one to try. It keeps the DNA and adds weight underneath it.
Scent Character
Absolu opens genuinely aquatic and fruity (sea notes, bergamot, pear and apple) but the story is the drydown. An aromatic lavender-rosemary-geranium heart bridges into amberwood, tonka bean, patchouli and labdanum, and that is where the name earns itself: a warm, faintly sweet woody floor beneath a classic Acqua di Giò top.
Translation: Fresh-aquatic for the first hour, warm-woody from the second onward. If you know the original Acqua di Giò, this is that scent with an amber-wood foundation built under it, which is exactly why it wears later into the evening and later into the year.

Performance
- Longevity: 7–9 hours for most wearers, strong for a fragrance that opens this fresh. Reports do diverge: some get past nine hours, others find the base turns subtle after the first several.
- Sillage: Moderate-to-strong through the opening hours. This projects more than a typical aquatic does.
- Projection: 2–3 feet early, settling to arm's length.

FAQ
How is Absolu different from the original Acqua di Giò?
Same marine-citrus signature, but Absolu adds a warm amberwood-tonka-labdanum base. It is richer, slightly sweet, and better suited to evenings and cooler months.
Is it only a summer fragrance?
No. It works in summer, but the woody base gives it enough warmth for spring and fall as well. This is the most seasonally flexible member of the Acqua di Giò family.
How long does it last?
Around 7–9 hours typically, with noticeable projection through the first few. That is strong performance for a fragrance that opens this fresh, though experiences vary by skin.
What size is this bottle?
125 ml (4.2 oz) eau de parfum, the largest of the standard Absolu bottles.
