Description

Tropikalys Karma is Lorenzo Pazzaglia's postcard from a market stall at the height of summer, mangoes gone soft in the heat, coconut husks split open, sugar and juice running together. It's a Floral Fruity extrait from PAX s.r.l., the Marche-based house that self-taught, Vogue- and Elle-featured perfumer Lorenzo Pazzaglia built on the flavors of his family's Mediterranean kitchen rather than a classical accord chart. It opens on an almost edible rush of star fruit, papaya, mangosteen, pineapple, apple and coconut; the heart turns creamy and jammy: banana, melon, a milk accord, mango, peach and lychee blurred together with a touch of violet and geranium; and a base of vanilla, plantain, musk, myrrh, patchouli and amber holds it all in a warm, resinous glow. This listing is the tester version: the same 50 ml extrait, packaged with a cap instead of the full retail box and cellophane.

Scent Character

  • Fresh & Fruity: 43%
  • Woody: 22%
  • Sweet: 15%
  • Resinous: 10%
  • Floral: 5%
  • Spicy: 5%

Translation: a fresh-fruity tropical gourmand with real woody-sweet backbone from patchouli and amber. The "resinous" 10% is the myrrh in the base. There's no actual agarwood in the pyramid, so don't expect an oud character here.

Fragrance Pyramid

Top: Apple, Pineapple, Grapefruit, Mangosteen, Star Fruit, Coconut and Papaya

Heart: Milk, Melon, Lychee, Peach, Mango, Mulberry, Banana, Violet and Geranium

Base: Patchouli, Plantain, Vanilla, Amber, Myrrh and Musk

Performance

  • Longevity: excellent, commonly 10-12+ hours on skin; this is one of the stronger performers in the Pazzaglia line.
  • Sillage: heavy. Expect a genuinely diffusive, room-filling trail for the first several hours.
  • Projection: 3+ ft and head-turning at first spray, settling to a strong, still-noticeable presence through the day. Several reviewers find it more fragrance than they want in close quarters, so go easy on the application if you'll be in an office or elevator.

Best Occasions & Season

  • Spring and summer, its natural tropical-fruit territory
  • Daytime and evening wear where a bold, sweet presence is welcome
  • Unisex. Built for anyone who wants a loud, joyful fruit-forward scent

Skip for: quiet indoor settings, shared offices, or anyone sensitive to strong sillage. This one fills a room.

FAQ

What's the difference between a tester and the retail bottle?
Nothing about the juice: it's the identical Extrait de Parfum. A tester ships with a cap instead of the retail box and cellophane, which is why it costs less.

Is Tropikalys Karma for men or women?
It's unisex, a tropical fruity gourmand built for anyone who likes their fruit turned up loud.

How strong is the sillage?
Very strong. This is one of the heavier projectors in the Pazzaglia line, so sample it before committing to a full bottle if you're unsure.

What does it smell like?
A market-stall rush of mango, lychee, coconut and pineapple over a warm, patchouli-and-amber base: sweet, creamy and unapologetically tropical.
